Srinagar, December 16: In a major incident on the first day of Kashmir province J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) selection camp for senior T20s, celebrated cricketer, Abid Nabi confronted cricket association officials and J&K team’s skipper Parvez Rasool over being dropped from district Srinagar probables.
District Srinagar Cricket Association on Wednesday announced list of around 25 cricketers as probables for the Kashmir province shortlist. The list didn’t include of Abid Nabi, who in his early days went on to play for India U19s.
These Srinagar players today joined other shortlisted district players as Kashmir province trials at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium Sonwar got underway.
After not getting selectors call, Abid Nabi stormed into cricket stadium on Wednesday morning.
Eyewitnesses said that Abid Nabi first confronted newly-elected secretary of Srinagar Cricket Association and got involved in a heated argument with the official.
“He was requesting the motivation to be dropped from Srinagar rundown of probables. He was additionally scrutinizing the qualification of the selector who did the determination. Meanwhile,while speaking with Kashmir News Trust, Abid Nabi said that there are major frauds in selection process in JKCA and players are not being given proper chance.
“JKCA is not following Lodha panel recommendations. The selectors have not played the number of matches being recommended by the panel, ” Abid said.
Later, Secretary Srinagar Association also spoke with KNT and said that it is not necessary that a player who has been playing for 15 years would be selected.
“There was selector who did the selection and would believe selection was fair, ” He was recorded saying by KNT.
