Shopian, May 6 (KNO): On Thursday morning, militants and security forces clashed in Kanigam village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
According to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a joint team of police, army’s 44 RR, and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) based on detailed information about militants’ presence in the region.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected location, the hiding militants opened fire, prompting a retaliation, resulting in an encounter.
A senior police officer also reported that powers and militants exchanged fire.
Three to four militants are believed to be trapped in the city, according to sources.
