Following their outstanding performance in the limited-overs series against South Africa, Pakistan captain Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman have been nominated for the ICC ‘Player of the Month’ award for April.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) named the candidates on Wednesday to honour the best performances by male and female cricketers in all aspects of international cricket.
In addition to the Pakistani pair, Nepal batsman Khushal Bhurtel was also nominated in the men’s category.
The ICC Men’s Player of the Month Nominees for April are as follows:
Babar overtook India captain Virat Kohli as the top batsman in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings in April, breaking Kohli’s long reign at the top.
Babar’s match-winning 82-ball 94 in the third One-Day International against South Africa helped him earn 13 rating points, taking his total to a career-high 865.
In the third match of a T20I series against the same opposition, he scored 122 from 59 balls in Pakistan’s successful chase.
