BJP worker escapes unhurt as his car in Jammu was targeted by gunmen

1 min read

A BJP worker had a narrow escape as his car near Qasim Nagar Chowk in Bagh-e-Bahu Jammu on Friday night was attacked by unknown gunmen.

A scarpio vehicle (JK02CD-0799) parked at Qasim Nagar was fired on with a pistol at about 1805 hours, official sources said.

As vehicle owner Liaqat Ali, son of Showket Ali of Raika Bahg-e-Bahu Jammu, was purchasing house goods from the Narwal market, there was no loss of life or injury in the incident. Ali is said to be a worker with the BJP, they said. The police arrived at the spot and began an investigation.

Preliminary investigations indicate, sources said, that the assault was not linked to militancy. “Those who carried out the attack are going to be behind bars soon,” they said.

DIG Jammu-Kathua Range Vivek Gupta reported that the FIR had been registered and that investigations had been initiated. “Later, we’ll share the details,” he added. (The GNS)
