Srinagar, Jan 07: On Friday, the health department of Jammu and Kashmir is conducting a dry run for health staff across J&K.
J&K State Immunization Officer, Dr. Qazi Haroon, said they would hold mock exercises for healthcare staff to keep them informed before the coronavirus vaccine rolls out.
There will be a dry run in all 20 districts across Jammu and Kashmir.
In the first step, the Department of Health and Medical Education said that over 1 lakh of both government and private hospital healthcare staff will be vaccinated.
They’re going to be vaccinated in hospitals. We have personnel who are qualified. All is being upheld. To store the vacci, we already have infrastructure.
Haroon said that all hospitals, including tertiary care centres, as well as peripheral hospitals, will be vaccinated.
He said the government is developing a systematic plan for vaccination and they have also made arrangements for vaccine storage at PHCs.
Similarly, 4-5 lakh citizens, including police, city, paramilitary forces and frontline staff, will be protected by the second phase of the vaccine.
Health officials said the Department plans to cover 20 lakh high-risk individuals who are over 50 years of age in the third process.
To date, J&K has recorded more than 1900 deaths due to the new coronavirus virus, although the caseload has increased.
