At least 23 defendants were arrested in the Kashmir Valley in connection with cyber fraud and hacking following the registration of a case earlier this month.
An unnamed senior police officer told a local news agency, the Global News Service (GNS) that a case FIR (02 of 2021) under Sections 66, 66-B, 66-C of the IT Act and 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Cyber Police Station Kashmir Zone Srinagar on allegations of cyber fraud and hacking.
The officer said that several raids were carried out by police at various call centres in Srinagar District and 23 accused people have been arrested so far. “There are more investigations going on,” the officer said. (The GNS)
