Srinagar, April 12: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has asked Deputy Commissioners and Police Superintendents to facilitate religious prayers and functions during curfew timings in the holy month of Ramadan.
“Have directed DCs/SPs to facilitate observance of prayers/religious functions during the holy month of Ramzan during curfew timings, wherever necessary (sic),” LG J&K office said while talking to micro-blogging site Twitter.
In view of the spike in the number of Covid-19 cases, the government has imposed night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am in the eight districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Among the eight districts, five of them in Kashmir Valley and three in the Jammu division.
The districts are Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, Anantnag and Kupwara.
On Sunday, The prominent religious body Jamiat Ahle-hadith had appealed to the government to allow prayers in Mosques during night hours in Ramadan and asserted the organisation will strictly adhere to all SOPs to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Ramadhan is expected to commence on April 14 in the valley.
