Police reported on Sunday that the missing Special Police Officer (SPO) along with three Jaish-e-Mohammad ground workers were arrested in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
In a statement, police said that Budgam police, along with 53RR and 181 Bn CRPF, launched a CASO at Hayatpora, Chadoora, acting on a particular input. During the search, one vehicle tried to escape from the tactfully stopped cordon, the occupants tried to resist those overwhelmed by the personnel of the government forces.
One of them was known as an Altaf Hussain militant turned dessert SPO. The other three were known as all residents of Pulwama: Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Jamsheed Magray, and Zahid Dar. The police reported that the search had recovered guns, ammunition, and other incriminating material.
In that regard, the statement reads that FIR No 242/2020 under the relevant parts of UAPA was registered in PS Chadoora and the investigation was taken up.
While KNO’s article, citing unnamed officials, claimed that the SPO Altaf Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat, a resident of Chadoora’s Qazipora area, surrendered to SOG Chadoora and was taken to SOG camp.
During a gunfight at Chadoora in which one local militant was apprehended alive, he also escaped.
