Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former India captain, has told his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammates that he will be the last person to board the flight back to India.
Dhoni has mentioned that he will wait for the foreigners to leave first, followed by the other Indian players, before returning home from the team’s base in Delhi.
Dhoni said in a virtual meeting with his teammates that because the IPL is taking place in India, international players and support staff should be given priority in travelling to their homes abroad. Later, the members of the Indian team will return home.
“Mahibhai said he would be the last person to check out of the hotel. He desired that the foreigners quit first, followed by the Indian players. When everyone is safe and secure, he will take the last flight tomorrow,” a member of CSK told The Indian Express.
CSK organised a charter flight from Delhi for its players. In the morning, a ten-seater flight carrying CSK players flew to Rajkot and Mumbai, while in the evening, a charter plane dropped players off in Bangalore and Chennai.
Dhoni is expected to return to Ranchi on Thursday evening.Teams such as the Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab organised charter flights for their Indian matches, while the Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad relied on commercial flights to get to their destinations.
