DELHI, NEW DELHI: According to sources, the National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for admission to medical courses will be postponed to September.
And a decision on the rollout of the Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) will be made after education minister Dharmendra Pradhan meets with centrally funded institutions.
The admission exam for MBBS/BDS courses was supposed to be held on August 1, but it was postponed owing to the Covid-19 outbreak in April-May and the accompanying lockdown.
The education ministry announced new dates for the April and May sessions of JEE (Main) on July 6.The April session will take place from July 20 to 25, and the May session (the fourth and final) will take place from July 27 to August 2.
In the midst of the uncertainties surrounding the NEET-UG date, social media has been awash with false claims. The National Testing Agency later explained that a circulating “notice” claiming the NEETUG would be held on September 5 was bogus.
Aspirants are urged to wait for the official notification and not to believe fake news spread by unknown sources.
The August 1 date for NEET, according to a senior government official, is no longer practicable and will be postponed.
“The new schedule, as well as instructions for completing the online registration procedure, will be released next week.“Consultations are underway, and the exam is expected to take place in the middle of September,” the official stated.
