Srinagar, Jan 16 (GNS): On Saturday, the Crime Branch of Kashmir carried out searches at the premises of several travel agencies in connection with a case reported by it concerning the selling of air tickets at highly exorbitant rates in the league with the workers of airlines.
The case, FIR (03/2020), was registered last year by the Crime Branch after various travel associations and business bodies approached it in advance through Director Tourism Kashmir about “dry selling or offline selling” of bulk tickets by airline employees to the ticketing agents. The case was registered last year by the Crime Branch. The case was registered under the sect of the penal code.
The case was registered under sections 120, 468, 471, 409, 120-B of the penal code.
The Crime Branch has already summoned and briefed representatives of various airlines, including Vistara, Go-Air, Indigo, Air India, Air Asia, and Spice jet, a senior officer of the Crime Branch told GNS.
“On the basis of the analysis of the records submitted by the airlines and on the basis of the statements recorded, it became apparent that a large number of tickets were bought by certain entities in connection with the staff of the airlines,” said the officer.
The raids, sources said, were carried out a day after search warrants against at least ten travel companies were released by a local court. (The GNS)
