Son of Krishna Dhaba’s owner shot at in Sgr, critical

Srinagar, Feb 17: A 24-year-old man was shot at by unidentified gunmen in Kashmir famous eatery Krishan Dhaba in Sonawar area on Wednesday evening, leaving him critically injured, officials said.

The injured identified as Aakesh Mehra is the son of Ramesh Kumar Mehra, who is the owner of the Dhaba.

According to the officials, the Aakesh was injured after unknown gunmen fired some shots near Krishan Dhaba here. The injured has been shifted to the SMHS hospital for the treatment, where doctors have described his condition to be critical at present.

Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Nazir Choudhary, said the youth has received a bullet in his chest and is being operated upon. “His condition is critical.”

A senior police officer at Srinagar told Rising Kashmir that they have registered a case in this regard and have taken up the investigation process.

A police spokesman said preliminary investigation revealed that militants had fired upon Akash Mehra who is a resident of Janipur Jammu at present putting up at Dalgate Srinagar. 

Police officers along with CRPF reached the spot and cordoned off the area to nab the culprits.

Several politicians and parties condemned the attack.

National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah condemned the attack terming it unacceptable 

“Very sorry to hear about the attack on the Krishna Dhaba in Srinagar, these attacks are unacceptable. I hope the injured person who is himself associated with the Dhaba & is undergoing treatment in a city hospital makes a complete & speedy recovery,’ (sic), he wrote on his Twitter handle.

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the attack and extended sympathies with the injured.

“Deeply saddened by the attack on Krishna Dhaba at Sonwar in Srinagar. Extend my sympathies to the injured & his family. Violence is never the answer,’ (sic), she wrote on Twitter handle.

BJP General Secretary (Organisation), Ashok Koul condemned the attack on Krishna Dhaba’s owner’s son and stated that these things would not be tolerated anymore.

“It was the historic day and these attacks are aimed to disturb the peace in the region,” he said. 

Koul termed the incident as unfortunate and prayed for the wellbeing of the injured youth. 

“I pray for his speedy recovery and also urged police to investigate the case and nab the culprits behind the attack.
